The open call for projects documenting Russia's war against Ukraine will run from 28 May to 11 June (23:59 EEST).
On a competitive basis, the Ukrainian Warchive team will select 5 authors who will receive a grant of EUR 1000. (This amount includes tax liabilities: 5% for individual entrepreneurs, 19.5% for individuals).
WHO ARE THE GRANTS FOR?
The competition is open to authors who have Ukrainian citizenship or a permanent residence permit in Ukraine during martial law, work in Ukraine, and are members of the Ukrainian Archive or agree to become a member. For more information on membership conditions, please follow the link.
HOW DO I AGREE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE ARCHIVE?
By applying for a grant, the author automatically agrees to become a member of the archive if the grant is awarded.
WHAT OBLIGATIONS DOES JOINING THE ARCHIVE ENTAIL?
Within six weeks after receiving the grant, the author undertakes to submit to the Ukrainian Warchive Foundation at least 1000 (for reportage photos) or a selection of 50 (for art projects) photos covering the life of the country during the war from 2022 to the present day, including photos of the photo project implemented with grant support.
WHO CHOOSES WHO WILL RECEIVE A GRANT AND HOW?
The winners are determined by the team of the photo archive. Applications for support of projects that have already begun work are accepted (applications include a clear description of the author's idea and intention, as well as photos already taken as part of the project).
HOW DO I REPORT ON THE USE OF THE GRANT?
The terms of the programme do not require a report, however, the author should indicate in the application what he or she plans to use the grant funds for.
WHAT RIGHTS DO THE AUTHOR AND THE ARCHIVE HAVE TO USE THE PHOTOS?
The authors retain all rights to the photographs created under the microgrant programme. The archive encourages authors to publish such projects on other platforms, in the media, and participate in exhibitions with the indication that these projects were supported by the Ukrainian Archive. Publications and participation in exhibitions do not require the approval of the archive.
By submitting photos to the archive, the author grants Ukrainian Warchive the right to store copies of the photos, publish them on the Ukrainian Warchive online platform and in the archive's social media. Ukrainian Warchive does not have the right to transfer photos to third parties and organisations under any circumstances without the consent of the authors.
You can apply until 11.06.2024 inclusive (the deadline for applications is 23:59) by following the link.
The results of the competition will be announced on the archive's website in the summer of 2024.
The Ukrainian Warchive programmes are implemented with the support of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) within the Documenting Ukraine project.
